As of December 1970 sets out the workers' rebellion in Poland from 14-22 December 1970 (strikes, rallies, demonstrations), mainly in Gdynia, Gdansk and Szczecin. The immediate cause of strikes and demonstrations were launched on December 12 a drastic rise in prices. Balance December repression was tragic: more than a thousand people injured, at least 42 people killed, more than 3,000 detainees. To combat the demonstrators moved 5,000 policemen and 27,000 soldiers. Coast has been pacified. The IPN documents that the December incident are not limited to the coast. For demonstrations and strikes also took place in Krakow, Walbrzych and other cities. According to some historians, in the depths of the country went on strike when more than 20,000 people.
